142 Throckmorton Theatre in Mill Valley has a wonderful comedy show every Tuesday night hosted by local celeb/comedian Mark Pitta, and it's called Mark Pitta & Friends. Mark does his bit excellently and brings together local comedians and some very famous comedians to an intimate setting. It's a lot of fun and certainly worth the visit, but ...... there are some "regulars" who are fast becoming a nuisance.

I honestly feel New Romantic sounds like a Kate Nash song, the way she sings, etc. but just that one song and not others. No doubt whatsoever that overall Laura is like a zillion times better/more talented than Kate Nash.

These events are excellent for introducing kids to classical music. I took my 6 year old daughter and she had a good time. I gave her a chance to listen to some of the pieces at home, so that music would be more recognizable for her (she even played the opening theme from Mozart 40th on the piano).

As far as the performance itself, the orchestra sounded excellent. The piano soloist was very nervous and made a few mistakes here and there, but the crowd was happy and that's all that matters.

Program I is over, but there is still a chance to go and hear Program II (which features Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23 -- a gem).

Cagigal is a true magician is the real sense. His shows are an invitation for theatergoers to ponder upon time, past, imagination and relationships; which results in an almost meditative experience - engaging from start to finish.

i absolutely love pavement and i'm so happy & excited about this! I have never been to their live show and am really looking forward to this!! Finger Crossed *x*

I went to the Friday night performance of Grieg and Shostakovich, very excited from two weeks of listening to both the Grieg and Shosty on my ipod non-stop. Unfortunately, I was thoroughly disappointed by the Grieg, and in particular the conducting by Petrenko. Many of my friends also noticed this, but the conductor seemed to have no sense of timing whatsoever. At numerous points throughout the piece, I counted along to the piece only to find that the conductor's tempo was behind and lagging. While the performance itself was decent (despite some tempo disagreements between soloist and orchestra, and an exposed failed trumpet note), this threw me off a bit.

The Shostakovich was rather redeeming and quite satisfying, but the Grieg really could have used some work.

This is a really terrific event organized by the city of Sunnyvale. It's a lot of fun and great to bring a date. The only problem is parking.
