Sir Arnold Bax was born in 1883 to a rich couple in London and was one of the eminent English poets of modern period. His compositions imbibed prewar world of Debussy, Ravel, and Stravinsky. Arnold Bax called himself as “brazen romantic poet” and was almost the last Romantic writer of European school of composers. His compositions were based on musical notes and orchestral transcripts.
Arnold Bax was greatly influenced by W.B.Yeats, patron and pioneer of Irish National Theater and also a renowned poet of that era. His writings were derived from Celtic culture and ethics. He wrote all his poems and compositions in the pen name of “Dermot O'Byrne”. He assisted his brother Clifford Bax in publishing a magazine particularly on arts and culture called “Orpheus” in Ireland.
Arnold Bax's first independent composition named as “In the Fairy Hills” is a musical classic with description on nature and was incorporated with orchestral melodies.
The Garden of Fand in 1916 was based on sea gods and goddesses and this composition gives a clear picture of indigenous worships during ancient times.

Bax scripted a poem in 1919 after his long vacation to Cornwall which was influenced by typical stories of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.
Bax was working under renowned poets such as Vaughan Williams and Elgar and his compositions with musical notes were not recognized until late 1930s.
Bax came in contact with Sibelius in Scandinavia in 1932 and became fellow mates and he influenced Bax a lot. Bax composed Finnish master in Winter Legends, The tale and the pine trees after his meeting with Sibelius in a new format called symphonic style which he continued to write his compositions until 1939. He wrote 6 compositions in symphonic style and the fifth work of his was devoted to Sibelius and was influenced by Sibelius' poem called “Tapiola”.
Bax was nominated for Master of the King's Music” and he received an award for all his literary works.
Bax was not identified by Sir Adrian Boult of the BBC Symphony Orchestra even in 1960s after a spending long time in composing in many literary musical notes.
He became alcoholic and was old enough to compose by this time. His youthful composition “Farewell to my youth” which he wrote in 1943 was published by Lewis Foreman in 1992. He penned his last work on Queen Elizabeth's II crowning in 1953.
Sir Arnold Bax breathed his last in 1953 during a vacation in Cork, Ireland but his legendary orchestral works are still alive.
