He was well recognized as an exceptional violinist and a music director. The Cello concerto in D minor (1913-1917) and the foursome songs No.2 in G minor (1915) was in discord and gloomy. This was due to the distressing time of the first World War which affected the emotional balance of this peace lover. There was a long gap before he composed ‘The Piano sonata (1921-1924)’. There was a significant change in the music, the disposition, rhythm, dissension, and use of belligerent and sharp tones. The same pattern was seen in the third and the fourth string quartets composed in 1926 and 1937. Bridge did extensive touring in the last twenty years of his life. He tutored some pupils privately, wrote, and sometimes directed music. He visited United States in 1923, 1934 and 1938. The eleven year old sensation, Benjamin Britten was his famous student. Britten had great love and fondness for his tutor and complimented him in the Variations on the subject of Frank Bridge (1937), which was the basis of the second of Three Idylls for String Quarter (1906) of his mentor. Britten influenced others to take notice in Bridge’s music. Many significant chamber and Instrumental compositions were produced by Bridge in his last years. The Christmas Rose, which he started in 1919 but completed only in 1930 after a long gap was an amazing opus. Though he was unable to finish the piece of music for strings Rebus Overture (1940) was his final accomplished work of art.
