SF Symphony's "Music For Families" concerts are an excellent introductions to symphony music for kids. I've been taking my daughter to these for a while now and they are generally really good. I do recommend checking what's on the program before going, as a few times they had rather "heavy listening" set of pieces which were actually not ideal for kids.
One other suggestion is to take the time and listen to some of the compositions with your child at home (you should be able to find pretty much any piece on YouTube). This will allow for some recognition and greater appreciation.
